Heterogeneous In-Memory Computing Systems – A Full Stack Perspective
By minimizing data movement between memory and compute units, in-memory computing has emerged as a promising approach to improving the energy efficiency of AI workloads. Bringing this technology into real-world systems, however, requires innovation across the entire computing stack—from devices and hardware architectures to compilers, software infrastructure, and integration into heterogeneous computing platforms.
In this talk, Corey Lammie will provide an overview of current research across this stack, highlighting architectural trade-offs resulting from hardware non-idealities, numerical precision, communication overheads, and programmability.
CV
Corey Lammie is a Research Scientist at IBM Research – Zürich. His research focuses on heterogeneous and distributed computing systems, compiler and runtime optimization for large-scale workloads, software/hardware co-design for heterogeneous accelerators, and scalable software infrastructure for efficient hardware execution.
He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the IBM International PhD Fellowship, the Domestic Prestige Research Training Program Scholarship, and the Engineers Australia CN Barton Medal. Corey also serves as a guest editor, reviewer, and technical program committee member for several leading IEEE journals and international conferences.
