Dr. Zili Yu received her Ph.D. from Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), the Netherlands, in 2012. Her doctoral research focused on low-power receive electronics for a miniature 3D ultrasound probe. From 2012 to 2013, she continued at TU Delft as a postdoctoral researcher, where she worked on application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) for ultrasound systems.
In 2013, Dr. Yu joined the Institut für Mikroelektronik Stuttgart (IMS CHIPS) as an integrated circuit designer. Since 2016, she has headed the Department of System Development and, subsequently, the Department of Sensor Systems. Her research focuses on the design of ASICs for a broad range of sensor applications, as well as Hybrid Systems-in-Foil (HySiF) technologies.
Dr. Yu serves as a reviewer for numerous international journals and conferences and is a long-standing member of the Technical Program Committee of the European Solid-State Electronics Research Conference (ESSERC). Since 2024, she has also been a guest lecturer at the University of Stuttgart, where she teaches the courses Sensor Principles and Integrated Interface Circuits and Advanced CMOS Device Technology.
Effective October 1, 2026, Dr. Yu will join ZITI, University Heidelberg as a Professor, where she will continue her research and teaching in integrated circuits, sensors and systems.
Beyond her professional activities, Dr. Yu is the mother of two children. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the violoncello in a symphony orchestra and performing chamber music with friends.
