Integrated Circuits, Sensors and Systems Laboratory (ICS²)
Research Scope
- IC Design: Design of precision, ultra-low-power, and low-voltage sensor front-end integrated circuits.
- Sensing Principle: Exploration of novel physical and biophysical sensing principles and their corresponding readout architectures.
- Emerging Technology: Development of flexible and hybrid electronic platforms for emerging applications.
- System Integration: Heterogeneous, chiplet-based system integration for advanced application-specific sensor systems.

Lectures
- Principles of Sensors and Readout Electronics (Winter Semester)
- Advanced CMOS Integrated Circuit Design for Sensor Systems (Summer Semester)
Students will gain the fundamental skills in analyzing, designing, and integrating sensor systems, from the physical sensing element and readout electronics to the complete system, using modern analog and mixed-signal IC design techniques.
Student Projects
Various student project topics aligned with the four main research areas are available. New topics can also be developed through discussions with students, depending on their interests and backgrounds. All topics can be tailored to different stages of study, including seminars, research projects, and MSc theses, with the potential for further development into PhD research topics.
If you are interested in circuit design and sensor systems and would like to join the ICS² Lab for a student project, please contact: zili.yu@ziti.uni-heidelberg.de
