Research Group Advanced Computer Architecture

This research group deals with the development of innovative architectures and methods to improve the performance of computer systems and to reduce the power consumption. Main focus is on parallel computing, which is the basic of high-performance systems in the future.

The plan is to build efficient parallel systems with usual technologies such as CPUs, GPUs and FPGAs.

The computer architectures, approaches and methods are to be developed and will be used in a broad application scope, especially in applications with high requirements of computing power and memory performance, such as in calculation, modeling and simulation of complex systems in the areas of astrophysics, particle physics, biology, genetics, quantum chemistry, fluid mechanics, meteorology and also climatology. Other areas such as database systems will also profit from computer architectures with more performance.
