Welcome to the website for the Master’s program in Computer Engineering. On the following pages, you will find information about applying for and studying Computer Engineering. The research-oriented Master’s program in Computer Engineering at Heidelberg University is organized by the Institute for Computer Engineering (ZITI) and the Faculty of Engineering. The aim of the program is to deepen and broaden students’ specialist knowledge and prepare them for a research- or development-oriented career in the field of computer engineering or for participation in doctoral programs. Students can choose advanced courses from two areas of specialization—emerging computing and chip design—which reflect the research topics represented at the institute. Each area of specialization consists of a series of advanced-level modules.

The master’s program includes a research phase consisting of a seminar, a student research project, and a master’s thesis, in which students acquire the ability to conduct independent research and document and publish scientific results. In the process, they deepen their knowledge of scientific methods, information technology, hardware and software, interdisciplinary systems thinking, practical application experience, communication skills, and teamwork.
